Hayley & Dan’s Mythe Barn Wedding

Hayley & Dan at Mythe Barn, Warwickshire

Scroll

Hi, I’m Jordan. I’m a natural wedding photographer with a real passion for the genuine, unscripted moments that make each day its own. My approach is relaxed and friendly. I document the day as it unfolds and blend in a handful of gently guided portraits, never stiff or posed, just enough to bring out who you really are. There’s plenty more on how I work across Warwickshire if you want a closer look.

There’s something about a barn wedding, and Mythe Barn has it. The venue sits right on the Warwickshire and Leicestershire border, with rustic character and light-filled spaces that make it a joy to photograph in.

I was really looking forward to joining Hayley and Dan here. Here’s how their day came together, from a relaxed morning of getting ready through to a packed dancefloor.

Stage 01 / Getting Ready

Getting Ready at Mythe Barn

One of the best things about Mythe Barn is that everything sits on-site, so Hayley and Dan both got ready at the venue and I could move between the two rooms without missing a thing. The morning started with the lads in The Den, a few beers open and plenty of laughter as they tried, and completely failed, to pin on their buttonholes. After enough weddings to lose count, I stepped in and saved the day.

Along the way Hayley and her bridesmaids were getting ready, makeup underway and the flower girl right in the middle of it all. It’s a part of the day I love, all the quiet build-up and those first small details before the ceremony.

Stage 02 / The Vows

The Ceremony in the Oak Barn

Solid oak, floor-to-ceiling light, and a room full of laughter.

Hayley and Dan’s ceremony was full of laughter and genuine joy, which said everything about the two of them. Watching them exchange vows in that light-filled room, the oak frame and those tall windows behind them, was one of the highlights of the day. Stage 03 / The Courtyard

A Sun-Kissed Drinks Reception

Everyone spilled outside into the sunshine.

The weather was on our side, so everyone headed out into the courtyard for the drinks reception. Guests mingled in the sunshine, the garden games came out, and a relaxed hour of Pimms and catching up filled the space before the wedding breakfast. These in-between moments, grins over a glass and kids running about the lawn, are some of my favourite things to photograph.

Stage 04 / Just the Two of Them

Portraits Around the Grounds

A quiet moment away from the party.

While the drinks flowed, Hayley and Dan slipped away for some portraits around the grounds. They were so natural and easy in front of the camera, which always makes my job simple, a few gentle prompts and the rest takes care of itself. We kept it quick so they didn’t miss the party.

There was time too for the group shots that matter, the bridal party, the groom’s side, and family with the kids, done and dusted so everyone could get back to a drink.

Stage 05 / The Grain Store

Speeches in the Grain Store

Two best men, a proud dad, and a room set for dinner.

The Grain Store was set for dinner and looked the part. Before everyone tucked in, it was time for the speeches. With two best men and a very proud dad, they were a proper mix of heartfelt and laugh-out-loud, and the room was buzzing by the end. While everyone ate, I took a quiet moment to back up the day’s photos and recharge before the evening.

Stage 06 / The Party

The Evening Party

A packed dancefloor, and one broken toe.

As the evening set in, the party got going. The cake was cut, the dancefloor filled, and everyone was ready to celebrate with Hayley and Dan. In a first for me, an over-enthusiastic groomsman managed to break my toe while throwing some shapes on the dancefloor. It made for an interesting drive home, but it still makes me smile when I think back on the day, and it says everything about how much fun everyone was having.

Final Thoughts on a Warwickshire Barn Wedding

Mythe Barn is one of those venues that just works. Everything sits on-site, the Oak Barn holds beautiful light for the ceremony, and the grounds give couples room to breathe between the big moments. Sitting on the Warwickshire and Leicestershire border, it’s an easy one to recommend for a relaxed, rustic day.

A barn, good light, and a room full of people having fun.

Hayley and Dan’s day had all of it. If you’re weighing up the venue, take a look at another Mythe Barn wedding to see more of what the barn can do.
