Family Photographer Cotswolds
Relaxed, natural family sessions across the Cotswolds countryside
The Cotswolds, with its rolling hills and honey-coloured stone villages, is one of the loveliest corners of the country to photograph a family. It is the kind of place that turns a simple morning out into a set of pictures you will keep, full of the people you love in a landscape that feels like home.
A phone snap is perfect for the everyday, but a family photographer in the Cotswolds gives you something else: the real, unscripted moments. The shared laughter, the quiet cuddles, the playful chaos that makes your family yours. I know the quiet spots and the best light this area has, from hidden wildflower meadows to still woodland paths, and because I am the one behind the camera, everyone gets to be in the frame together.
The result is a relaxed hour or two outdoors and a gallery of honest, natural images at the end of it. If you would like to see how I work before we plan a session, that is the best place to start.

Why It Matters
Why choose a family photographer in the Cotswolds
Instead of one parent always being the one behind the camera, everyone gets to be in the frame, together. It is a chance to relax, connect, and let someone else create honest, natural pictures you will come back to for years. That is the difference a Cotswolds family photographer makes: not posed and stiff, but warm, real, and unmistakably you.
The Session
What to expect from your family shoot
Above all, it is relaxed and easy. My goal is to capture the real you, and that cannot happen if you are feeling stiff or awkward, so a session feels more like a walk in the park than a formal sitting. We spend about one to two hours together, enough for a good variety of pictures without anyone getting tired or bored, the little ones especially.
There is no need to know how to pose. I gently guide you through it, with small prompts and easy things to do that bring out natural reactions. Think less “say cheese” and more walking hand in hand, sharing a secret, and the odd tickle fight.

Good To Know
Family photography questions, answered
The main thing is that you all feel comfortable. Complementary, neutral colours work beautifully, earthy tones, soft pastels, or classic denim, and it helps to avoid big logos or very busy patterns. Layers are a nice touch too, as they add texture and are easy to take off. There is no need to buy new matching outfits. Looking like yourselves is what makes the pictures feel like you.
The best preparation is to treat it like a fun outing. Tell them you are going to meet a friend who will take some pictures while you all play and explore together. Make sure they are well rested and have had a snack beforehand, and it is worth bringing a few drinks and extra snacks along. There is no need for them to be perfectly behaved, letting them run around and be themselves is exactly how we capture their real personalities.
A fair question in the UK. I keep a close eye on the forecast, and overcast skies are often wonderful for photos, the soft, even light is very flattering. If heavy rain or strong winds are due, we can simply move to a better day. Your comfort comes first, and we will find a new date that suits everyone.
After the session I carefully select and edit each image, and your full online gallery is ready within three to four weeks. I will send a small sneak peek a few days after the shoot to keep you going while you wait.
My family sessions cover the whole of the Cotswolds, including Cheltenham and across Gloucestershire. I also photograph families further afield in Worcestershire and the surrounding counties, so if you are nearby, do get in touch and ask.

In Closing
Your family, the Cotswolds, and an easy hour together
A family photo session should never feel like hard work. The best pictures come from the in-between moments, the walking, the laughing, the holding on, not from anyone being told to stand still and smile. That is the whole idea behind how I photograph families: gently, naturally, and at your pace.
Whether you live nearby or are visiting this part of the country, the Cotswolds gives us beautiful, quiet places to spend that hour, and a set of honest, natural pictures to keep at the end of it.
The years go quickly. The pictures are how you hold on to them.
If you would like to book a family session, or just have a question first, take a look at how I work and then get in touch. I would love to hear about your family.

From the Family
“Jordan has a beautiful style, light, airy, and organic. She was so patient with our 1.5 year old, who needed a snack break like most toddlers. We adore all the photos and are so happy we chose her to document our family. 10/10.”
