Wedding Photography at Mythe Barn
Sophie & Nathan’s summer celebration
Hi, I’m Jordan. I love a barn wedding, with all that natural light, rustic charm and the very best photo opportunities. Mythe Barn sits between Warwickshire and the Leicestershire countryside, and it is one of the leading wedding venues for couples after a relaxed, magical day. These are some of my favourite Mythe Barn wedding photos, and I want to walk you through one of them.
Sophie and Nathan married here on a glorious June day, and their celebration showed off everything the venue does so well. If you are searching for a wedding photographer who works in this part of the world, you can read more about how I work across the county, but for now, let me take you through their day from the morning preparations to the last song of the night.
The Morning
Bridal Preps at Mythe Barn
I make it a point to arrive at the venue a good couple of hours before the ceremony. That gives me time to catch the candid getting-ready moments and the little details, explore the space, and settle into the bubbling excitement of the day ahead.
Sophie got ready in the Gallery, a beautiful light-filled room made for bridal preparations. Surrounded by her bridal party and makeup artist, all bustling to help her look her best, there was so much to photograph. I caught the dress, the details, and Sophie with her squad, blending a documentary approach with a few gentle portraits.

While Sophie’s preparations were in full swing, I slipped out to the oak barn and up to the minstrels’ gallery to catch the ceremony space while it was still quiet, and to say hi to Nathan as the first guests began to arrive.

The Ceremony
The Oak Barn
Solid oak, floor-to-ceiling glass, and light pouring in.
The Ceremony
Vows in the Oak Barn
The ceremony space at Mythe Barn is one of my favourites to photograph. A double-height solid oak frame, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an uninterrupted view of the fields beyond. The décor is kept deliberately simple so the structure and the setting do the talking, with delicate hops hung from the balcony as a nod to the countryside outside. It is exactly the kind of light-filled room that makes for relaxed, natural barn wedding photos.
Sophie arrived with her father for the walk down the aisle, and the ceremony was full of love and laughter as she and Nathan exchanged their vows and sealed it with the first kiss. After signing the register, they stepped outside to the confetti, always one of the best moments of the day to photograph. If you love this style, you can see more of how I work across the county.

The Reception
A Sun-Filled Courtyard
This was a June wedding, and the weather played along beautifully. Guests spilled out into the courtyard and the front gardens, where lawn games were set up and a tray of something cold was never far away. It is one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph, with everyone relaxed, mingling, and catching up in the sunshine.

Sophie and Nathan had also booked a wedding magician, Close-Up Chris, who kept guests spellbound while the group photos were happening. You can see it in their faces. The reactions were brilliant, and it is exactly the kind of unplanned, genuine moment I love to catch.

Groups & Portraits
Everyone Together
The gardens at Mythe Barn make easy work of group photos.
Group Shots
The People Who Matter
I keep group shots relaxed and quick, just enough to make sure you go home with the combinations that matter, without anyone feeling like they are stuck in a queue. The gardens at Mythe Barn give plenty of pretty backdrops, so we gathered the bridal party and loved ones, set up the bouquet and a few easy formals, and were done in time for everyone to get back to their drinks.

Romantic Portraits
Just the Two of You
My style is relaxed, but I do love a portrait session with the couple. Over the years I have picked up a few quiet tricks to help people who are not used to being in front of a camera, though Sophie and Nathan barely needed them. Sophie comes from a theatrical background and was completely at ease, so we made the most of the venue and came away with some beautiful just-married portraits.

The Wedding Breakfast
Speeches & Stories
Heartfelt, funny, and not a dry eye in the room.
The Wedding Breakfast
Speeches in the Grain Store
Guests took their seats in the Grain Store to welcome Sophie and Nathan in as husband and wife before the meal. The food at Mythe Barn is genuinely good, and I was lucky enough to be fed too. While everyone ate, I used the time to back up the morning’s photos and recharge, then came back for the speeches, always one of my favourite parts of the day. Heartfelt, funny, a few happy tears. Top tip from a wedding photographer: always carry tissues.

The Evening
Cake, First Dance & a Surprise
As the evening guests arrived, it was time for the cherished bits, cutting the cake and the first dance, before the live band took over the rustic barn. There was also a lovely surprise for Sophie, as her bridesmaids and her father performed a dance routine they had been rehearsing for weeks. I love moments like that, the ones nobody quite expects. Close-Up Chris was still working his magic too, this time from his Close-Up Corner, a little booth guests kept drifting back to all night.
The dance floor is one of my favourite places to be. It is where the day really lets go, and where the most genuine, unguarded photos happen.

Final Thoughts
Is Mythe Barn a Good Wedding Venue?
Having photographed weddings here, I can say Mythe Barn ticks a lot of boxes. The oak barn itself is gorgeous, the team are genuinely helpful and accommodating, and the surrounding Leicestershire countryside gives you a beautiful backdrop in every direction. The light-filled ceremony room, the courtyard for drinks, the Grain Store for dinner, it all flows, which makes for a relaxed day and, honestly, better photos.
If the reviews and the photos have you considering it, I would say go and see it in person. And every couple I have had the pleasure of photographing here has been so warm and so happy on the day, which tells you plenty about the kind of weddings it draws.
A barn that makes an easy, beautiful day even easier.
If you are getting married at Mythe Barn and would like a relaxed, light and airy record of your day, I would love to hear from you. You can see what each package includes on the pricing page, or just get in touch to check your date.
