Wedding Photography at the Aynho Barn
The Great Barn is an exclusive-use wedding venue based in Oxfordshire/Northamptonshire and is ideal for those seeking a romantic picturesque location for their big day.
Let me walk you through Georgina and Piers' special day from bridal preps to the late evening dancing!
From the moment I met Georgina, I knew I had a seriously stylish bride on my hands! Alexander McQueen earrings and the most stunning, sleek wedding dress!
Getting Ready
The getting ready part of the day was so much to photograph, the champagne was flowing and G's bride tribe were so lovely and up for a laugh. Their dresses were beautiful in sage green (I love this palette for a wedding).
I was booked for my full-day wedding package so I arrive around two hours before the ceremony at Georgina's house.
While the Great Barn accommodates wedding ceremonies and civil unions, today's nuptials took place at a quaint village church.
Piers looked dapper in a navy blue suit!
Wedding Ceremonies
Georgina was armed down the aisle by her dad and the cutest of page boys and flower girl.
Most of my weddings these days see civil weddings included at the wedding venue so I do enjoy the occasional church wedding even if the vicars are so particular about where I stand :-)
I was so happy that they had gorgeous light streaming in.
Georgina and Piers' ceremony was beautiful, filled with laughter and emotion. As they exchanged vows and rings, you could tell how much they meant to each other.
After the ceremony, we headed back to The Great Barn.
The Drinks Reception at the Great Barn
As the guests meandered through the countryside to this popular Oxfordshire wedding venue, I took a quick tour of the grounds and the gorgeously decorated Croughton barn. Amidst the beautiful high ceilings and glorious wooden beams, they had a floral palette of pure white - so classy and gorgeous.
The drinks reception was a perfect example of what to do at your wedding - with a gin bar and a saxophonist! I definitely recommend music during the drinks reception - as you can see it really got everyone in the mood to party and set the scene for the rest of the wedding.
Group Shots & Portraits
It was a gorgeously sunny day, so while the guests were enjoying some drinks in the sunshine, I stole Georgina and Peirs away for a short time to capture some photos of the two of them, as well as their brilliant bridal party.
We then returned to the drinks reception for lots more candid shots of all the guests having fun.
When it comes to group photos, I'm a firm believer that less is more - I'd much rather get back to the documentary-style photography that produces such memorable moments!
Speeches at The Great Barn
The speeches at this wedding were a blast and the best man got a standing ovation. I really enjoy taking candid moments of both our married couple and their guests during the speeches. It’s lovely to see those raw reactions.
The Evening Reception
After some lovely food (and impeccable service from the Great Barn team!), the party got started for real and I'm not joking when I say one of my favourite photos from the day is Georgina crowd surfing! I do love it when a dancefloor gets a little wild and it was so much for me to photograph.
