Standon Hall Photos

A luxury wedding venue in Staffordshire

Located just a stone's throw away from the charming market town of Eccleshall, Standon Hall is a relatively new luxury venue. During my recent visit to this exclusive venue, I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful autumnal wedding. Today, I am excited to share my experience and insights with you.

Bridal Preps at Standon Hall

I begin my visit to this grade II listed building around two hours before the ceremony begins. This is standard practice for me as it allows plenty of time to get a feel for the venue, capture the bride getting ready and greet the groom and his team!

It's easy to see that Standon isn't just your typical wedding venue - it's got a lovely mix of old original features and a modern interior that'll make you feel right at home!

After a quick scout around the building and the beautifully landscaped gardens, I meet up with Faye and her bridal team, who are getting beautified by talented hair and makeup experts. Faye and Liam are ardent Harry Potter enthusiasts, which is why you'll find a few subtle references to the series, along with some pumpkins to enhance the late October ambience!

After a few candid and posed photos, I meet up with Liam and his groomsmen in the pebbles suite for some getting-ready shots. - a touch of cufflink and tie fine-tuning and we're almost set for the ceremony!

The Ceremony at Standon Hall

I join Liam in the ceremony room eagerly waiting for his bride! The ceremony room is well lit and the chandeliers and foliage add to the enchanting setting. Faye looks simply beautiful as she walks down the aisle with her dad - and it's an easy task to capture the moment thanks to ample lighting. It's a thoughtful service infused with heartfelt vows and plenty of happy tears!

The Drinks Reception at Standon Hall

Before the guests get to sip on their reception drinks, we quickly jump outside for the confetti shot. I allow everyone to do their thing for 15 minutes or so - allowing congratulatory hugs and well wishes to the bride and groom.

Our guests mingle both inside the botanical bar, where an acoustic guitarist plays, and outside the magnificent Grade II listed mansion.

Whilst guests sip on signature cocktails I pop into the Bookends suite where the wedding breakfast will take place. The Harry Potter wedding theme was in full swing with Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin tables. I capture some of the finer details such as the venue decor, fine art, antique fireplace, table decoration and personalisation that help make each wedding unique

Group shots at Standon Hall

We pop outside the exclusive use venue for the group photos - the landscaped gardens offer incredible backdrops for this. I try to keep this part of the day as the shorter side leaving Faye and Liam to spend more time with each other and their guests.

Portraits at Standon Hall

We take a romantic stroll around the serene site to get our couple photos. As every couple is unique, I give the newly wedded duo the freedom to decide how much time we dedicate to this section. My photography style is relaxed and easygoing, but I can't resist capturing a few artfully posed shots that truly shine. Usually, we spend around 10-15 minutes on this, capturing moments that they'll treasure forever. The landscaped gardens offer a beautiful backdrop that complements the stunning couple perfectly.

The Wedding Breakfast at Standon Hall

Our guests are called in for their wedding feast and they welcome Faye and Liam into the candle-lit Bookends suite. In true wedding day tradition, we go straight into the speeches which is often one of my favourite parts of the day. You see, you're never sure what you're going to get here! Awful jokes, heartfelt moments, raised eyebrows and embarrassing stories! Happy to say there were none of the latter and friends and family toast our happy couple on their wedding day

The Evening Reception at Standon Hall

As the autumnal evening falls on our wedding venue, the day takes a slower pace (those carbs are the true dementors!). Guests dot around the Pebbles suite and botanical bar (adorned in fresh florals) as the evening attendees begin to arrive.

I continue to capture natural and relaxed photos before we head back into the Bookends suite (complete with dance floor candelabras) for the time-honoured wedding traditions of the cake cutting and first dance.

This is always a fun time for a wedding photographer as the dance floor becomes the focal point and I get to see the transformation of reserved day guests morph into hip-busting dancing monsters! It provides exquisite wedding photography!
