Capturing Your Special Moments at Hyde House
There's no hiding the fact that I'm utterly smitten with The Cotswolds and its picturesque surroundings. From the rolling hills to the quaint villages featuring quintessential honey-stone buildings, it's a sight to behold. The cosy cafes, and bustling independent stores – from artisan crafts to antique havens – all nestled within stunning terrains, it's just breathtaking. So, you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to capture a wedding at the enchanting Hyde House in Cirencester. My heart practically did a little dance!
Hyde House is truly a dream venue, perfectly complementing my style as a wedding photographer who loves working with natural light. Imagine capturing your special moments surrounded by panoramic views of rolling hills and tranquil countryside - it's utterly romantic and beyond compare. The venue is wonderfully spacious and bathed in light, with large bay windows, rustic oak beams, and charming farmhouse-style doors that open wide to invite in a flood of natural light. All these features come together to make Hyde House the perfect backdrop for my photography style.
The Bridal Preps
I love the tranquillity of this part of the day - the bridal preps. It's a time for the bride and her bridesmaids to relax, enjoy each other’s company, sip a glass of bubbles, listen to some music and have fun while getting ready together.
At Hyde House, I was able to capture gorgeous natural light pictures in various rooms from the master bedroom to the hallway.
I had the pleasure of joining Emma in her bridal suite as she was getting primped and pampered for her big day. She and her bridal party looked absolutely adorable in their matching silk pyjamas, creating such a fun and photogenic scene. It was one of those delightful moments that make my job as a photographer so rewarding.
Up next, the girls assisted Emma into her breathtaking wedding dress - she looked absolutely radiant. Then came one of the most heartwarming moments of the day, a favourite of mine - the first look between father and daughter. It's always such a touching and unforgettable moment.
Following this, I have the delightful opportunity to explore the Hyde House wedding venue, capturing the serenity of the ceremony space. It's a charming wooden barn that boasts breathtaking views of the rolling Cotswolds - a sight to behold indeed! Before the guests arrive, I also get to capture the intricate details around the main house, adding to the rich tapestry of memories from this special day.
Next up, I get to greet Dan and his groomsmen, who are looking incredibly handsome in their tuxedos. This classic look never fails to impress, and I'm always thrilled when it's the chosen attire. We arrange a few portraits showcasing this stylish and sophisticated group, but I also make sure to capture those candid moments of anticipation as they eagerly await the start of the ceremony.
The Ceremony at Hyde House
Next, I linger in the barn as the wedding guests begin to gather, capturing the palpable excitement before our gorgeous bride makes her grand entrance. It's completely normal for the groom to feel a bit nervous at this stage, and I'll subtly capture all the raw and authentic emotions that unfold during these precious moments.
Once all the guests are comfortably seated, I sneak away to join Emma and her bridal party for a few last-minute portraits. The barn has this wonderful feature where the doors can be closed to keep the bride hidden from her soon-to-be husband - it creates a dramatic backdrop for some truly elegant pictures. It’s these little details that make every wedding unique and memorable.
I quickly slip back into the ceremony, all set for Emma's grand entrance! As our radiant bride gracefully walks down the aisle, I'm perfectly positioned to freeze the moment when Dan turns to see his stunning future wife for the first time. It's always an enchanting moment and I absolutely adore being a part of it.
The Drinks Reception
I always make it a point to give the newlyweds their first private moment as husband and wife. I step back and let them savour this special instant. Meanwhile, I seize this opportunity to mix with the wedding guests while pre-dinner drinks are being served, capturing the delightful buzz that fills the air post-ceremony.
Since Hyde House is exclusively yours for the day, it gives us a wonderful blank canvas to work with. The rolling Cotswolds countryside becomes our backdrop, perfect for both lively group shots and romantic couple photos. It's all about capturing your special moments amidst this beautiful scenery! It really is the perfect venue.
After about 10 minutes, we move on to the fun confetti shot, followed by the group photos. Then comes one of my favourite parts of the day - the couple portraits. I always let the couple guide me on how much time we spend on this, as everyone's comfort levels vary. Delighted to say, Emma and Dan were super excited about this part! We leisurely captured some breathtaking photos, with the natural light and the Cotswold countryside acting as our perfect companions!
The Wedding Breakfast
Just before the guests arrive, I take a moment to capture the intricate details of the wedding breakfast setup. Then, it's time for our lovely couple to make their grand entrance! After that, I slip away for a well-deserved breather. From kicking off with the bridal preparations, it's quite the whirlwind ensuring every precious moment is caught on camera. So, I spend the next hour savoring the fantastic food Hyde House weddings are famous for, while also perusing through the photos we've captured so far. It's all part of the joy of the day!
The Speeches
Every wedding day is a little different, and the speeches at this particular wedding were especially memorable. The best men did an outstanding job of mixing hilarious anecdotes with heartfelt messages, making for a wonderful atmosphere in the room. Our bride also made a speech - which was a nice break from tradition. It's during these poignant moments that I'm reminded why I love my job so much -every single day is packed with unique surprises that no other job can offer!
Evening Reception
Naturally, there's a gentle pause here where the day's rhythm slows down just a bit before the lively evening reception. On those summer evenings, I eagerly anticipate the golden hour. It's when the light is gorgeously soft, creating an ideal setting for some truly stunning, dreamy wedding photography. Emma & Dan were more than happy to indulge in a few more photo sessions during this magical time.
A lively casino and roulette table served as the night's entertainment, adding a dash of fun for the wedding guests as the newlyweds welcomed more loved ones into the evening celebration. My time at the event wrapped up with the delightful cake-cutting ceremony and the couple's first dance. And of course, I made sure not to miss capturing the guests showing off their best moves on the dance floor!
